Martin Granger

Songwriter & Musician

  • Original Music composition

Martin Granger is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and director, who first made his name as the lead musician for the Montreal group The Urbanauts from 1998 to 2002. Now known as DEE, Martin has since devoted himself to his unique style of electro funk-dance-rock, while composing soundtracks for various television productions.

Both journalists and critics have noted his great musical versatility and open-mindedness. He is an ingenious and prolific artist that has always lived for his music, “…a pop wiz, he does it all and understands it all (…) it’s solid, unpretentious pop.” Alain Brunet, Première Chaîne, Radio-Canada.

“DEE has an innate talent for a catchy chorus, fluid and effortless…All the while giving it a sense of depth and finish. A style evocative of Prince and the Pet Shop Boys.” Jean Beauchênes, Journal de Montreal.

In 2003, DEE released a five track EP that was met with praise from the industry and fans alike. The impact was immediately visible, particularly in Hollywood, where DEE’s songs were increasingly used in film and television. His music has now been featured in over 25 series, including, Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order, Punk’d, Roswell, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, Tru Calling, Las Vegas, Ghost Whisperer, Tout sur Moi and many others.

His music has also been used in films by Ziad Touma and Carole Laure. Five of his songs are included in the soundtrack to Ricardo Trogi’s latest film, Horloge Biologique.

In 2005, DEE helped remix Jean-Pierre Ferland’s album, Jaune, along with Kid Loco, DJ Champion, and Ariane Moffat.

DEE’s music has continued to circulate worldwide, since the release of his album La Tribu, released in 2006. During the 2007 Superbowl, millions of watchers heard his song Miles and Miles featured in one of the biggest automobile commercials (Ford Edge). This same song was one of the top 100 electro music tracks to be downloaded on iTunes in the United States. DEE’s innovative YouTube clips have also received more than two million hits.

DEE performs in numerous festivals and shows, whether with his band or as a DJ, throughout Canada and the United States. He was also invited to perform in Moscow for the launching of the Russian version of YouTube in 2007.
