Éric Bolduc’s musical journey began in the basement of his family home, where he wrote his first compositions. His professional vocation truly flourished thanks to composition classes taken with Richard Lespérance, a guitar professor at his conservatory. By assimilating the theories and complex structures of various musical styles, he learned to develop his own unique form of musical expression. He was also greatly inspired by trips taken in Africa, Nepal, India, and Latin America (with renowned guitarist Osvaldo Burucua), during which he was exposed to the basics of folk music.
Eric’s unique style is inspired by the amalgamation of rhythms from around the world. Throughout his many voyages, Eric appropriated numerous instruments, namely, guitar, piano, percussions, bass, drums, the charango, and the lap steel. After studying film at Concordia University, Eric honed his storytelling abilities, both through image and music. His classes in music composition for film especially influenced him. His belief is that images and music go hand in hand and feed off of each other.
Eric also made his place as a director and head of photography in commercials and documentaries. In 2000, he created La Giraffe, a studio specializing in music for publicities, to which he contributed his services and his compositions.
Eric is now working with Boogie Studio as a composer, while still pursuing his career as a director, both in film and photography, and a multi-instrumentalist in his band Sunrise and Good People. His goal is simple: to be a storyteller and to inspire.
